ESS AMT-1

I have a pair, but am thinking it might be worth it to upgrade to a later model, AMT-1A?(B)?
From what I understand, the cabs are the same, just have a passive woofer in the back. I also suspect that the crossover might be different.
If it is possible, I would buy the passive woofer, router out the back, mod the crossover if needed, and I'm in business.
Anyone know if this is possible?
