RE: How to restore the black case of an HK 730

There is an auto product call Back to Black for refurbishing the appearance of black painter trim. Mother's brand I think.

Should work on the cover finish on your HK730.

Have you updated the capacitors on that? It's now around 40 years old. A restoration would bring back the sound it originally had. You can also increase the size of the main power supply filter caps by 50%. For better bass.

I had one of those; but like a lot of early HK stuff, it had intermittants caused by poor solder joints on the boards. I ended up reflowing every joint. Still one of the best looking receivers ever.
