I sold those in the 80's,but I think they were all the later ones with Boston Acoustics on the tweeter. You could not beat them in their price range and they sounded good on all types of music. If you could spend more money, ADS and Energy did everything a little better, but Bostons had good sound for a ridiculously low entrance fee. They lured a lot of people for Circuit City to our store.
As for the dust cap, try wrapping some tape around your finger, sticky side out. There isn't much chance of damaging the dust caps with that technique.
