I'm aware the improvement an outdoor antenna would bring.It came with a 40 foot or so unit and it was disappointing too. However for the purposes of comparing the two units I use their internal antennas which are both approximately 50 inches. The Zenith kicks ass with its rod antenna and gets many more stations than the 909. That's sad and shouldn't be the case period.ET
