Simple: read everything here, and on the Joelist, even though it sounds like a foreign languge. Build a few kits, build a few from raw schematics (you'll be surprised at how much guidance a pre-punched chassis represents) and sooner or later it will gel into a working knowledge of tube design. Re-reading things after 6 months will also shed light on things you didn't understand the first time around.This stuff is all picked up by repetition, and by doing it again and again.
