RE: I need to calculate the value of a voltage dropping resistor

If you are taking the screen voltage from the output B+, the screen grid resistor needs to drop 50V plus the voltage drop across the transformer primary.

The voltage drop across the primary is its DCR times plate current. Add that product to 50V. Determine from your data what is the quiescent current draw (no signal) from the screen, at the chosen plate voltage and current.

Divide the total required voltage drop from B+ to screen by the screen current at quiescence. That gives the resistor value.
