I Googled xiang sheng 708B. If the images I saw are of the same thing you have, it looks like it might already have film capacitors that I assume are coupling the audio signal, though I cannot know for sure from the images alone. Space looks short, but you might be able to substitute electrolytic capacitors of a larger value. You might change the diodes, too.

But, given the sound quality you describe, the changes you are considering may or may not make any difference. Have you tired different tubes? The brittle, lightweight sound quality may just be inherent in the circuit design and changing parts might not help at all.

In any case, you'd need to get a schematic or reverse-engineer a schematic yourself because whoever works on it needs to be able to find their way around. You'd need to make a list of all the existing part values and ratings as a reference.
