So, when switch is off the voltage is dropped by the large resistor keeping the B+ down while the tubes are warming up. Then you flip the switch and the full B+ is allowed.
Have you monitored this technique to see what the voltage does. If there is any overshoot while the load stabilizes? Also when the switch is connected how much of a noise is made?
