I'm a bass player and I started work converting my Selmer Treble 'n Bass to a Bassman circuit. Paused for now. I have a buddy who uses the circuit for his guitar and has built 3 Bassman clones, with loads of experiments.
We listened to a variety of rectifiers and picked out the 5V3-A as the best of them. Hope it helps.
