I went from a red LED to a pair of Schottkys in series, and my very unscientific impression is that maybe I liked the LED better. I need to switch back to the LED and have another listen. This is in a phono stage. The difference, if any, could merely be due to the fact that the LED set the bias at a slightly different voltage from what I see with two Shottkys.
