If you use a negative B supply for the input tube, and run that input tube 'inverted' (output from cathode but still with gain) direct to driver tube with plate voltage = bias voltage of output stage, you've done the 'same thing' but have excluded the cathode bias 'R//C' on the driver, and if you think about it, the same with the output tube is _ possible (if you like, or worth to try)It does mean the addition of an input transformer, but 0mADC types are available as high quality, small sized and cost effective - also ratio step up is available.
