Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

RE: pinging: Henry Pasternack

It's a very nice amplifier. You know, solid-state amps don't have as much "character" as tube amps. I thought the 100W version was a bit more open and had a bit more bass solidity than the 50W version with the single pair of outputs. But I'm sure you would do very well using it as a bass amp, as long as you're not trying to drive inefficient speakers to very high SPLs.

I was teaching myself to make PC boards using the toner transfer method and made up several sets of the original Bittner boards. I'd be happy to mail you a pair, drilled and ready to go.

If you want more power, there is a nice project called the "Honey Badger" described on DiyAudio. They sell beautiful gold-plated boards on their store. They also sell a universal solid-state power supply board that ought to go well with either amp design.

Send me an emal if you want to try the boards, or want to discuss the project in more detail.

Oh, yeah... Nice bike!
