Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

This is really crazy....

I got the other channel of my phono preamp bread boarded today and I have been rolling 6dj8's through it and keeping an eye on the voltage plate voltage reading between the plate side of the plate resistor and ground. I have had readings from 45 vdc to 95 vdc depending on which tube I put in. These are all tubes that have passed muster on my TV-10 tester, so i am really surprised.
Am I correct in thinking that the closer both tubes are to the 90 vdc recommended in the tube manual the better it will be? Is there any test that can be done on a TV-10 that would indicate it will have a low plate voltage reading?
