RE: sound engineering practive...

I'm new to electronics and am trying to understand some electrical principles (not having any background in that area) so I'm hoping you will answer this post. Further to your answer regarding various gauge wire and audio signals, would the same hold true for the use of different size strands in each conductor? For example, I've noticed that some speaker cable manufacturers will combine one larger strand and several smaller strands (or various size strands).

(I think) I understand that audio frequencies don't "select" the best or most appropriate wire strand to move through, so does it make any difference if the conductor has all the same size strands or not?
