There are known issues with macOS Sierra for USB audio.
There are two things working against you. Old generation USB DAC on the latest generation macOS Sierra.
If your brave you can try your DAC on one of your other Macs to ensure that it works, then update that Mac to macOS Sierra and see if it no longer works. That would point to macOS Sierra as the culprit.

I'd suggest trying another USB DAC just for grins but you may still run into issues until the drivers in macOS Sierra are fixed. It might still be worth a try with a newer USB DAC.... it doesn't have to be an expensive one. Maybe your dealer can help.
