HEEELP - Ayre QB9 24/96 not recognised by Late 2013 13" Retina MBP

I have just tried using my Ayre QB9 24/96 DAC with the fastest Mac I own, a MBP Retina, 13 inch, Late 2013, but the computer refuses to recognise the DAC no matter what USB cable I use or what USB socket I connect to. I have even updated the OS from Yosomite to the latest Sierra but still no luck.

The really weird thing is that I have been using the very same DAC with an older and slower Mid 2009 UniBody MBP (running El Capitan) for many years now with absolutely no problems.

I also have two other Mid 2012 UniBody MBPs and a 2011 MacBook Air (running on either El Capitan or Sierra) and all of them work fine with the same Ayre QB9.

Any idea why only the Late 2013 13" Retina MBP is not recognising the Ayre DAC and how to resolve the issue??
