RE: MyTek Brooklyn DAC ?

Agreed, it should be tried in a specific system before totally committing to it.

I myself have no problems and very positive sound quality impressions using an Exsound e28. Subjectively and measurably there is no issue whatsoever, including driving my surround and back channel Parasound A23 amps via 10 meter balanced interconnects.

I have seen many subjective anecdotal opinions favoring the use of a preamp and its analog volume control. However, I do not agree. I believe a properly engineered digital volume control in the DAC with a 32 bits or more will provide the ultimate in transparency. In my case, there are no ill effects at all.
