I do not believe that there is such a thing as the 'best' audio player. SQ depends as much on the hardware setup, OS setup, and player setup as much as the player itself. If each component is not 'optimally' configured in a system, then quality suffers. Such things as latency, buffers, and player priority also come into significant play.
I can make HQ Player sound similar to Foobar, with the later being preferred when outputting via KS with minimal buffers and Foobar on Realtime priority in Windows.
Such things as anti virus software for web going systems degrade SQ substantially.
