I've had my Wyred 4 Sound Recovery USB Reclocker in my system since July. My experience echoes yours. The stock power supply (small wall wart) works just fine but I replaced it with a iFi iPower supply. Its a bit better than the supplied ps. I tried several USB cables I had on hand but decided to build my own using pushback wire and it is outstanding.

As you stated the music is now more involving.
