I have a cousin who did the same thing and put a bunch of 128K files on a thumb drive and could play them back in his car and laptop on the road. I gave him a 2496 DVD of some wav files and he asked why HIS files sounded so awful, including all his ITunes media.

Sometimes what you don't know can hurt you. What is gone is gone forever. He is now not going below redbook quality as he as seen (heard) the light. Most who love music and just spend a little time comparing will not stay in mp3 land long.
