RE: I will never do again!

Disconnecting the speaker cord should not cause a pop unless there is DC on the speaker wires, which there should not be. The usual problem of pops concerns turning on and off inputs to a preamplifier or turning a preamplifier on or off when the amplifier is powered up.

If nothing is damaged, chill out and move on, ...


(With some incompetently designed amplifiers, running them without a load may damage them, but that's a subject for a different forum.)
