No, it doesn't have to be tagged. I use .wavs on the big rig, and nothing else. Album art works fine.

There is some code you have to do if you have the cover art named the same as the .wav file (if you are using one big .wav and a cue sheet):

$replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,)%filename%.jpg

should work, as it did for me, but I have the files arranged as so:

REM_Document.wav
REM_Document.cue
REM_Document.jpg

I am not sure what it would look like if you have individual files.
