It did not happen with 95% of my records, but some seemed to have that problem. Interestingly, I don't remember any originals having the problem, just heavy vinyl records and mostly live performances. Still, I like the fact that any residual, even if it is stealthy is caught now.
I believe my setup is correct and the arm and cartridge are well matched. But, it is a unipivot. I may not have mentioned that I have experienced this effect with 3 different tables, 6 cartridges, an sme arm, rega arm, nottingham arm and now vpi arm. I still believe its in the grooves, but we can agree to disagree on that.
