I had tried a JBL 2405 a while back before I got the autoformer (used an L-pad to attenuate) but couldn't get that to blend right. Also tried an Altec 902 without a horn attached and it wasn't too bad (much better than 2405). So far the MR902's are the best but depending on type of track playing (vocal, big band, small group jazz) it's blend varies.
