Please use the silicone surround dope on the cloth surround. Without it air will leak through the cloth surround.

Apply just the right amount. Cut a small hole on the nozzle of the plastic container that comes with the re-cone kit from GPA. Quickly apply a coat and spread a very thin layer with a brush; just sufficient to cover the pores on the cloth surround. Not to worry. If there is in-sufficient dope on the surround, you can apply more after that; say within a couple of minute between the first and second time.
