In Reply to: Downloaded the free sample of Debussy's "Minstrels" (Preludes, Book I) posted by Chris from Lafayette on August 25, 2016 at 11:16:52:
...and had EXACTLY the same impression about the piano sound. It was a bit dark sounding. Maybe its that particular instrument. I compared it to Bavouzet's recording of the same piece (a RBCD quality download) and his instrument had a bit more upper octave sparkle. I preferred Bavouzet's performance. Both pianos (which sound like Steinway's) sound very good to me.
