Yes, it is tough to get the model number. We have Craigslist here. When I lived in Virginia, I probably sent about 100 emails over a year and a half period with regard to listing and probably got 5 responses and with the exception of a couple, they had no clue what I was even talking about (they just wanted to sell).
It took me a year and a half to get the unit and after burning about 10 discs the laser went but I was able to send it here - http://www.efxcomputer.com/service/ps3-repair/
I knew absolutely zero about computer audio about 5 years back. I was fortunate as the local audio group where I used to live included Rich Hollis (https://www.facebook.com/HollisAudioLabs/) and he helped me thru the initial process. I bought a book (http://www.amazon.com/Serve-amp-Groove-Comprehensive-Numerically/dp/0985821701/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1460899592&sr=8-1) but never opened it. About 5+ years later now, I get by pretty well.
