Ric Schultz, of EVS, who mods the Oppo 95, claims to eliminate the fan by removing the top of the player and replacing the top with one of his own design, that leaves space for ventilation around the sides. You can see photos and further explanation at tweakaudio.com. I have no personal experience with his mods, nor do I have any connection with EVS.
