Actually, the XRCD's are more expensive than the bulk of SACD's. The Japanese import XR's are $40.00 plus shipping.I have both SACD and XRCD of the Terry Evan's, Audioquest recording. Both are extremely good, but assuming they come from the same master without equalization, they are quite different.
It is an interesting experience to compare them, however.
Overall (and I have a butt-load of XRCD's) my read is that the XR's are as good as it gets on PCM, and the catalog is brilliant. However, sonically, the differences are very clear.
What I would LOVE is the same exquisite care JVC takes with these discs, their catalog which is really tasteful, and DSD.
