I can believe that Stax stats are one of the best being sold on the market today. The new $63,000 Sennheiser Orpheus system would probably provide some stiff competition, though. Have you heard it yet?
If I had the money and I wanted to keep only one pair of 'phones the Stax/Blue Hawaii combo would definitely be on my short list...
