Hey-Hey!!!,
IMO, there are advantages and disadvantages.
The 5U4 is directly heated, so a second or two after turn on, the B+ is at its maximum, and when the EL34's heat up, ten seconds later, it will drop. This drop will be greater than the 5AR4's, which might be good, but the initial 'flash' to root2 times RMS value is not a good thing.
The 5U4 also takes an amp more heater current, and the PA-060 is already running flat out, so put this one into the disadvantage column.
I have looked at the ratings for the GZ33, and while it takes more heater current than the 5AR4/GZ34, it has higher ratings in the current department and is still indirectly heated. They are also cheaper than GZ34 too. I don't think you'll be able to put on the cage anymore because the '33 is taller.
the 5U4 is far more available though and cheaper than GZ34's too, so look and read and understand what exactly you are going ot be trading when you sub tube types. Ask more questions, somebody will help.
regards,
Douglas
