If I send a 4v peak to peak signal to a low level input can this do damage to the preamp? I know it sounds terrible for normal listening, but I'm interested in it for mangling different audio sources for creative purposes. I've been sending a line level into Special, maxing that out into PC-5 and sending Audio Out to a heavily padded line input since the result comes out to around 40v pp or higher. I know these input voltages are way more than it typically wants to see. Will this do any serious damage or is clipping the signal the only thing that is happening?
Also, I have a set of Tl072 buffered outputs that I use to send out to line level inputs normally, but I don't use the buffer when I'm intentionally clipping to avoid clipping at the heater power rails.
