Right now, supporting both gives me access to more software. I'm stuck with stereo only (Marantz SA-14) on SACD because there is no obvious solution yet to channel management for both formats. The universal player I eventually buy should outlast me, or at least outlast my hearing.I think that SACD stands a better chance of surviving overall, but only as a niche. DVD-A has more potential in the mass market, but may never realize it.
