I have for some time now a Toshiba 3950 :-) (Hey! It claims a 24 bit 192hz dac) Modded with ALL the then current mods. Unlikey I could stuff in any more 'improvements'.
Point of this is: the other day I had to plug in an old cheap ass JVC portable CD player contraption I found in my Son's former room.
Damn if the thing doesn't sound than my Toshiba. it's missing all the zingy digital feel of the tosh.
Yes.. a tiny loss in ultimate detail, BFD :-) This thing is listenable endlessly V nice. Who woulda thought?
Now, thinking My Toshiba is well past it's use by date. I'm looking for a replacement.
One that isn't even a little bit Harsh??
Does such a gizmo actually exist??
