Most DVD players that I have heard sound like nails on a chalkboard for audio CDs. I had an older Samsung that wasn't too bad, but the model that replaced it was just like every other DVD player.....thin, harsh, and lifeless. You have to remember that most modern DVD players are using a DVD ROM drive which is essentially ripping the CD in real time. This type of playback is not conducive to high quality sound. You're way better off with a CD player that plays back CDs the old fashioned way.
