Ive never tried this but it might work. Ive read a lot of dvd player manuals. what ever the setup is all the players will be set up the same for how you want to play it back. why not do what you know then refer to the manual for the stuff you dont know. the stuff you dont understand should only be on 1 page.
Ive never owned a denon before but if I had a new one like yours & never seen the setup minu I probably would have done it like you did.read the manual. the other way might work but I dont know never tried it.
I like panasonic bd players I got 4 of them some are different model #. the menus are all the same so I just set up one with the manual and the rest are the same
