Not sure this is correct, some of it is pure marketing: In the case of THX, since there is no technology involved whatsoever, it goes entirely in logo fees (and some technical certification, which is also an up-front logo fee).The rest is fairly intangible (specs and codec). Some of it can be emulated pretty easily, but nobody does it because they need the logo to sell their products. Many consumers count the number of logos on a player and then buy the machine with the highest number for any given price. Right?
