Because in audio most reviewers and consumers seem to feel the need to play engineer and physicist. And the engineering they spout is nearly always contrary to real engineering and physics.

I so wish it were how you describe, folks just saying "I like it, I don't know why it works". Somehow the male brain seems to equate not knowing how gear works to a lack of masculinity!
