The way we run our current operation already includes full reviewer bios to give readers a bit of background on the writer, his/her biases, system, room, and the first paragraph of each review includes a full listing of all components used as well as room size and setup (i.e. long-wall, short-wall, diagional or what have you). The old advice also remains true that reading a particular reviewer over time should give you an insight into his/her biases and preferences and thus help you to relate to sonic descriptions and how they might translate for you.
In the end, the best system reviewers often are the retailers who care (and granted, not all do - about the sound that is). Since they personally end up owning all of their displayed wares, they have a vested interest in showing systems that work well together - and yes, one can argue about their standards and such but in the end, there ARE caring/careful dealers who truly know about how to assemble copasetic systems.
Cheers
