The glue makes it sound edgier with less resolution and microdetail, sort of like the music is downsampled, it happens in the entire frequency range. I haven't heard any roll offs from it.
It was a nightmare designing my products because placing anything around the unit reduced sound quality. Paint and lacquer gave the biggest reductions in resolution. I even tried natural rubber which I pasted on in many layers, it made it more veiled the more layers I applied. Then a miracle happened and I found a neutral material that didn't reduce the performance in any way, it actually improved it.
