Yes, I would expect an increase in capacitance to help. The 220uF is fairly good but to be honest was chosen because it is the same as used in the Foreplay and was already in stock. Up to 470uF might well help with a more solid bass, assuming it is of decent quality.A trick I have only read about is to install a modest resistor in series with the capacitor - 1 to 10 ohms perhaps. I've not tried it, but there was a flurry of interest a couple years back. Try it both ways and see what you like.
In any case, be sure to give it some break in time before making judgements - 50 to 100 hours is usual. Yes, it's a pain! Caps seem to break in in phases, getting worse before they get better sometimes.
