Yep, when you get your first REAL good preamp it is amazing. I love when it starts getting totally transparent and then you start to think that it's not doing much anymore.
At that point try using another preamp. That is when you finally understand what a good preamp does (or it a good preamps case what is doesn't do - add color to what you are listening too) and how BAD some other preamps really were.
A good preamp - you shouldn't notice it when you are using it but you should notice it when you're not using it.
