Home Amp/Preamp Asylum

Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

Replaced tubes. everything works good. Finished as far as I am concerned.

I think it was a tube.
Even one with some problem might shut down the amp.
So I repleed the tubes.. all 4 with new ones.
The old tubed 'looked OK' (to my utterly untrained eye) but new ones went in.

Reconnected everything and playing as I type.
As I wrote, previously the tubes made some crackle type noises.. Every now and then. I actually stopped turning the preamp off to avoid the crackle.

Anyway, it was almost nothing... Just some tube or other.

I have no way to test the tubes...
Other possible things may have been an insect getting on the wrong part in the amp. Or a cosmic whatever event.
So far, the tube swap seems to have solved it.
Beyond that I have no worry about it. "Other possible problems will have to wait until they actually manifest". (I am no worrywart)
