Amp/Preamp Asylum Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here. |
|
I tried an experiment a few weeks ago and I am wondering if I fried one of my Qinpu amps as a consequence.
Since I had two identical QINPU amps, I decided to dual-amp with them. I used one amp for each stereo channel. I split the source using simple y splitter so that one channel of the source was the input two both channels in an amp, and then connected each output from one amp to one of the biamp connectors on my Ref3A DeCapo I speakers.
Tonight I had one amp die. Both tubes light for only a few seconds and then slowly fade out.
Checked all the wiring and connections, everything good.
Changed both tubes, no improvement. Tubes light for a few moments and then slowly fade out.
Did I fry the amp? Maybe there is some amount of interaction between the channels due to insufficient isolation of the two drivers in the speaker?
thanks,
Ken
