Integrated Amp for bedroom System

The problem I've experienced is the Volume getting too loud too fast on the volume control.
Ended up too soft or too loud, even only one click more.
Rogue Sphinx was unusable for me, got huge sound at 8:30 and had hum, even w/cheater plug,
couldn't turn it down much before it was almost off.
Roth Music Cocoon is great for $250, but the Steps on VC were too large, same Volume problem, tho better than Rogue for small room.
Enter Marantz PM 15S2, B Stock from Audio Classics, $1399, was $2500 new.
( some streaking on the Faceplate ).
The volume goes up VERY Gradually, goes from -100 ( off ) to 0, Full out.
I listen between -50 to -30, depending on source, file, and it is working out great, I can get optimum playback volume on everything, .5 db increments.
By the time it's over -50, each .5db is very small by then.
I also use the Tone Button, which routs thru the Tone Controls.
Even with the tone controls in detent slot, the mid-range is suddenly all there.
With the Tone Button off, something is definitely missing.
I called Marantz and was told having it On is the way to go, even tho not increasing/decreasing Tone Controls. ( The Manual wasn't clear about that, to me ).
I have had it on and running since Tues, will compare it to Roth directly next week, but I think it's a keeper.
I use Kef R300 speakers, Mytek 192/DSD Dac with Jumpers in, brings Output Level
down to 2.5 Volts, from a rather high 5 V output.
TV Genie Sat Box Coax out, Audirvana Plus, IMac 10.9.5.
I use Upampling to 32/192 for TV, mostly listen to Music in DSD/2x DSD with Audirvana.
Really nice!
