What's "MPX Out" (Technics vintage receiver)

I picked up a Technics SA-351 receiver at a thrift store today. I was thinking the "MPX Out" port could be used for a subwoofer, to make a 2.1 system. But, I can't find any clear info on what the "MPX Out" port actually does....? Anybody know?
