Got my balanced unit yesterday - this one stays, and the other one goes. Not night and day, but nice improvement in all aspects of the sound, most notably soundstage and HF extension.Couple of things to note:
1. Unit definitely sounds slightly more transparent with half-step volume control in down ("louder") position, in which it's probably out of circuit.
2. The same interconnects sound best with SE, as with the other pre (I have several different pairs around). Not terribly surprising, especially considering that both are passive designs.
