RE: Good amp for ribbons?

It depends on your sensitivity to coherence. Some folks can't stand the ribbon maggies because of the significant difference between the character of the ribbon and that of the midrange and bass.

You can use the character of the amps to make the tweeter + tweet amp match the mid + mid amp match better. Having a tube amp on top will help match the tweeter and bass sections so that they are not too far off from each other.

In my case, with the faster Neo8 mids, the discontinuity in character is not between the ribbon and mid but between the mid and bass. Having a tube amp on the mids helped significantly in keeping the whole sounding coherent despite the bass having a SS active XO and the mids having a PLLXO.
