Thanks you for the information, AJ. Wasn't sure if it was some internal electronic part or one/some of the tweeter panels. For the heck of it I just powered-up the speaker again. At first the noise was no longer steady but after a few minutes warm-up it was.

Handy I'm not so it'd mean sending the speaker out to have it repaired.
