Because they use a series xovr. You would have to do major surgery and redesign a new active xovr that would work. Magnepan says that the series xovr design is a major factor in the improved sound of the .7 series, so eliminating it may degrade the sound of the speaker. i'm sure there are people out there who have done it that might be able to help.
